Role Insight

Due to further growth of the business, we are now recruiting for a highly experienced Waste & Compliance professional to join the group. As Technical Waste Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all legal compliance and legislative requirements relating to our hazardous and non-hazardous waste business.
Responsibilities will include:

TARGET DELIVERY
• Ultimate responsibility for waste compliance across the whole business including in the region of 34 waste facilities. This includes ensuring permit compliance is met at all times.
• Daily management of the existing office team of Technical Sales Assessors. Support with the analysing of soil report and ensure best practice is exercised throughout the department.
• Work closely with the Planning Department with regards to applications of permits and variations.
• Completion of Landfill Tax Returns.
• Production of Risk Assessments for waste treatment and bio-remediation.
• Build and maintain a solid working relationship with Local Authorities.

BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT & STRATEGY
• Liaise with the board to make decisions on operational activities and set strategic goals.
• To safeguard and augment the efficiency of the company’s operations to facilitate accelerating development and long- term success.
• Play a key role in the acquisition and set up of new facilities.
• Evaluate the efficiency of business procedures according to objectives and apply improvements where necessary.

Key Skills/Qualifications required
TECHNICAL ATTRIBUTES
• A technical professional within the Waste industry, with a minimum of 10 years’ experience working within senior management.
• Chemistry degree qualified or equivalent.
• WAMITAB in Treatment & Transfer of Hazardous Waste and Hazardous Landfill, with continuing competence.
• Proven experience in the leadership of multi- disciplined teams, encompassing operational functions.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the hazardous waste industry at present, including legal compliance and best practice.

ORGANISATION
• This position will sit on the board for MG Recycling Ltd.
• The successful candidate will report directly into the CEO of Operations and the Managing Director.
• Direct reports will include a team of Technical Assessors and Environmental Technicians
