Due to continued business growth and internal promotion, we are now looking for an ambitious and pro-active Plant Inspection Engineer. The successful candidate will have an extensive background of hands on engineering experience within the Heavy Plant/ Construction industry. Duties include: 

  • Responsible for carrying out quality audits.
  • To complete inspections of all fixed and mobile plant and machinery to ensure accurate schedule of works.
  • Support the Plant Maintenance Manager with the scheduling and coordination of engineers’ and welders’ workload, ensuring work is carried out effectively with minimal downtime.
  • Overseeing Health & Safety for all mobile fitters and welders.
  • Liaise with stakeholders such as managers and directors to advise of planned downtime to plant.
  • Identify and implement improvement, cost saving and sustainable opportunities alongside the Plant Maintenance Manager and Engineering Director.
  • Report and present all performance matters routinely, including trends and breakdown/ fault data.


  • Must have an excellent technical knowledge of Heavy Plant & Quarry machinery including Earthmoving equipment, small tools and Concrete plants.
  • Hold a recognised Engineering qualification or be time served in a similar role.  
  • Fault finding and reporting skills.
  • Natural problem solver
  • Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise own workload, and workload of others.
  • Ability to work accurately, under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must have a strong and robust character with the ability to question decisions and delegate efficiently.
  • CITB- Test & Inspection of Plant Machinery qualification would be desirable.
